We are pleased to announce the release of the 59th STRN Newsletter. This edition opens with an editorial by colleagues from IIT Delhi, Linköping University, and Monash University reflecting on STRN’s expanding engagement with PhD candidates and early-career researchers. Drawing on recent activities in Delhi, Linköping, and Melbourne, the editorial discusses how internationalization, diversification, and sustained support for emerging scholars are shaping the future of sustainability transitions research and strengthening the global STRN community.

This issue also features a range of announcements and updates from across the network. These include important information regarding IST 2026 in Zurich, the STRN Paper Development Workshop for early-career researchers, and the announcement of the 2026 STRN Methods School on destabilization, discontinuation, and decline, to be held at Lund University. Readers will also find information on the GeoST/ROREP workshop on regions in transition, reports from the STRN PhD Schools in Linköping and Melbourne, and reflections on NEST’s first conference hosted exclusively in the Global South.

The newsletter further highlights activities across STRN’s thematic groups, including updates from the GeoST webinar series on the global dimension of sustainability transitions and the fourth International Workshop on Multi-System Dynamics, held in Tartu, Estonia. In addition, the issue features news from EIST, including updated Special Issue guidelines, as well as announcements from the NEST community and new research projects.
